Slotted for Android
The same surf planner that ships on iPhone, Apple Watch and Apple TV, rewritten in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. Forecasts, buoy conditions, tides, crowdsourced spot checks, sessions, crews and gear — on your phone, your tablet, your watch and your TV.
Three builds
Phone & tablet
The whole app. Forecast dashboard, an OpenStreetMap map with spot checks, friends, buoys, stashes and radar, session planning and live GPS tracking, crews and chat, gear locker and profile. One binary adapts from a phone to a foldable to a tablet to ChromeOS.
Wear OS
Conditions at a glance, a one-tap spot check, in-water session tracking with the wave counter on your wrist, and SOS. Signs in on the watch itself and runs standalone, so the phone can stay in the car.
Android TV
The dawn-patrol board for the living room. Forecast, breaks, sessions and crews, built for a D-pad: no touch targets, overscan-safe layout, and focus that never lands somewhere you cannot see.
Getting a build
Open the beta page
On the device you want to install on. It checks your Android version and form factor and points you at the right APK.
Download and install
Allow installs from your browser when Android asks. Play Protect will warn you it does not recognise the developer — that is what a sideloaded beta looks like.
Use the Slotted account you already have, or make one in the app. Same account as the iPhone app and the web app.
Tell us what broke
Email support with the build number from the beta page and the device you saw it on.
Questions
Why not Google Play?
The beta ships as direct APK downloads so a build can go out the moment it is ready, without a review queue between the fix and the tester. A Play listing follows once the app settles.
Is my data the same as on iPhone?
Yes. Android talks to the same backend as the iOS app and the web app, so your spots, favourites, sessions, crews, gear and reports are one account across all of them. Nothing is stored only on the phone.
What is missing compared to iOS?
Push notifications: the backend speaks Apple's push service today, so the Android app checks for alerts when you open it and while it is in the foreground rather than buzzing in the background. Apple-only features have no Android counterpart either — Live Activities, Siri shortcuts, Apple Watch heart rate and Apple Calendar sync (Android reads your device calendar instead).
Will an update wipe my stuff?
No. Every build is signed with the same key, so a new APK installs over the old one and keeps you signed in. Even a clean uninstall costs you nothing but signing in again, because your data lives on the server.
Which devices have actually been tested?
Development and verification happen on the Android emulator: a phone image, a Wear OS image and an Android TV image. Reports from real hardware are the single most useful thing a tester can send.
